Coaching is about helping you find your navigation system to guide you. It is about you finding your own solution. A coach guides you through active listening, thought-provoking questions and time and space to allow reflection. This process allows you to find your solutions and take ownership of them.
Coaching is not counseling. Nor is it therapy. There may be some overlap in approach. However, do not use these coaching sessions as a replacement for therapy.
The coaching process is effective for any situation. It works even if the coach is not an expert in the subject matter. This is because the coach helps you find your solution not their solution. Having said that from time to time, a coach may, with your consent share their expertise for you to consider as an option.
Being a coach certified with multiple certifications, I prefer to use Heal Your Life's methodology of self-love and compassion as the basis of all my work. Even the most daunting work becomes easier with kindness. And yes, sometimes we need help to learn how to be kind to ourself in a challenging situation.
Accountability works best when you are ready for it. At the end of each session, an action plan will be worked out based on your convenience and preference. If accountability is not your cup of tea (or coffee), that is fine. The coaching session will still be effective.
Group coaching focuses on one common theme. It brings like-minded people together. Though the theme and the materials are the same, the learning is personal, based on you and your reflections.
Group coaching can often be even more powerful than individual coaching due to group synergy.
